Rugby CONNECT
The Australian Rugby Union is pleased to announce our participation in Sports CONNECT. This Australian Sports Commission (ASC) initiative is aimed at increasing the development, participation and competition in sport for people with a disability.
The ARU is committed to providing opportunities of inclusion for people with a disability through our Rugby CONNECT program and is excited about the prospect of further developing the support provided to those already participating and those looking to join in our sport.
Rugby CONNECT provides a great opportunity for Australian Rugby to increase participation in our game, both on and off the field. The ARU will work with our State/Territory Unions, Clubs, State Departments of Sport and Recreation and Disability Organisations to investigate the opportunities of inclusion for participants with a disability in all aspects of the game.
Further, we will also review the opportunity to further develop our EdRugby schools program and make it more inclusive of schools with special needs.
Before we look to develop an Action Plan, the ARU is conducting a National Audit. We encourage all involved with Rugby Union to take a few moments to complete the short survey (approx 5-10mins). By completeing the survey, the Rugby Community has a chance to input and influence how ARU plan a major project. The information received will assist ARU to develop a suitable and relevant Action Plan.
