Why become a host club?

Being a host club for TryRugby has many benefits and also a number of responsibilities.

The benefits include:

  • Attracting new players – and their families -- to your club
  • Having a number of participants ‘convert’ to your established comps, thereby strengthening rugby as a whole
  • Developing physical, sport & Rugby skills in your club’s players
  • Receiving TryRugby participant and program equipment
  • Being supported by an administrative infrastructure
  • Receiving an education and training resource package
  • Building stronger links with the existing rugby community in your area, especially schools
  • Bringing a new revenue stream to your club

Your responsibilities include:

  • Attracting enough participants to make the program viable (minimum 50)
  • Providing a suitable venue
  • Recruiting staff and providing a pool of volunteers
  • Reporting (end of program, banking, etc)
  • Following a model of organisation and financial arrangements set down by the ARU
  • Being committed to providing ongoing rugby programs for the new TryRugby participants.

Is there a cost?

The cost of the program to host clubs is determined by you and relates to the equipment you order. You will receive from the ARU all the equipment you require to run your TryRugby centre. This comprises:

  • a host pack (staff uniforms – shirt and hat to keep, coloured markers, information flyers, posters, etc)
  •  participant equipment (a football, hat, water bottle and sling bag for each participant to keep)

As the host club you will decide on the make up of your order of equipment.  Please complete the order form (CLICK HERE), this then gives you an indication of the total cost and also the cost per participant to you. You must provide each participant with at least one item from the participant equipment section and all staff instructors a polo shirt, cap & skills and drills manual. You can select additional items from any of the other sections. The equipment is the sole responsibility of your club, and you can keep it after it has been used for the program.

TryRugby program working example

               ARU income      Club order for 100 participants @ $20 = $2,000

                                        Minus Club deposit                           = $500

ARU Sub Total   (owing)                    = $1,500

                 Actual Club income for 100 participants @ $30           = $3,000

                Club income                                     $3,000 - $2,000 = $1,000
