Bledisloe Cup Roadshow

The Bledisloe Cup Test Match in Sydney this year provided a great opportunity to spread the word about our great game.  What better way to do that than by taking one of the most coveted trophies in Rugby, The Bledisloe Cup, on a road trip!  

With the considerable excitement that the Bledisloe Cup brings, the Australian Rugby Union and NSW Rugby Union headed off to Rugby’s heartland in the Metropolitan Northern Zone of Sydney, visting 11 primary schools and 5 junior clubs as well as 1 Premier club during the lead up to the Bledisloe Cup match.

Some of the main attractions:

• Primary school visit and coaching clinics
• Junior Club visits and coaching clinics
• Rugby activities with our Interactive trailer
• Photo Opportunities with the Bledisloe Cup and Tri Nations Trophy
• Appearances from Qantas Wallabies and Wally the mascot
• Ticket and merchandise giveaways

All in all we saw some 1,200 primary school children and 1,700 junior Rugby players. In addition we saw numerous teachers, Mums, Dads, sisters and brothers of junior players as well as Rugby supporters and older players. It was a great week and we are sure there are many happy memories in the Rugby community and beyond of their 'Bledisloe Cup experience'. We would like to thank Shodan security for not only escorting the Cup around but also for their kind support of the roadshow in terms of vehicles and giveaways for the juniors and school children. Withoutout you it wouldn't have been possible.
