Bledisloe Cup Festival Hits Sydney

Wednesday 23 – Friday 25 July 2008, Martin Place, Sydney

 

This Saturday, the Qantas Wallabies take on the All Blacks in the first of four Bledisloe Cup Tests in 2008, the first Bledisloe Test in Sydney in three years as part of the 2008 Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series.

 

On Wednesday 23, Thursday 24 and Friday 25 July, come down to the the Bledisloe Cup Festival in Martin Place for all the latest Qantas Wallabies news including the team announcement at lunchtime on Wednesday, interviews and player signings.  Across the morning and lunchtime sessions on the three days, there will be giveaways, live entertainment, you can test your Rugby skills and enjoy the interactive games.

 

We will also be joined by World Champion Australian Netballers Catherine Cox and Susan Pratley who were members of the winning World Championship Squad in 2007 when they beat the Silver Ferns, and Australian Opals Lauren Jackson who will talk about their rivalry with New Zealand, as well as their preparations for the Beijing Olympics.

 

Wednesday 23 July

 

7am – 9am

Launch of three-day event in Martin Place with a lamb cook-off between members of the Qantas Wallabies and fans.  Come down and have your photograph taken with the Bledisloe Cup trophy.

12.30pm – 1.30pm

Qantas Wallabies signing session with coach Robbie Deans, Captain Stirling Mortlock and three members of the squad. Bring your camera and have your photograph taken with the Bledisloe Cup trophy as well as get autographs from the players.

Qantas Wallabies team announcement for the clash with the All Blacks on Saturday 26 July with Coach Robbie Deans, Captain Stirling Mortlock and three key players

 

 

Thursday 24 July

 

7am – 9am

Trans-Tasman Sheep Shearing Competition, giveaways, Rugby skills and drills, interactive games

 

1pm – 3pm

Great Bledisloe Cup moments – Australian and New Zealand Sporting Rivalries.  Relive some of the greatest moments in Bledisloe Cup history with members of the Qantas Wallabies.  Hear from Catherine Cox and Susan Pratley, members of the World Champion Australian Women’s Netball team and their long-standing rivalry with New Zealand’s Silver Ferns.  

 

 

Friday 25 July

 

7am – 9am

Meet members of the Qantas Wallabies squad, enjoy the beautiful sounds of the Qantas choir and support Australia in a Trans Tasman Wood Chopping competition.

1pm – 3pm

Meet members of the Qantas Wallabies squad, Lauren Jackson from the Australian Opals on the basketball rivalry and their preparations for Beijing, and finish off the working week with a performance from The Choirboys.
