Your Man of the Match against England - Al "The Fuse" Baxter

It was one to savour for the much maligned Qantas Wallabies pack.

After years of enduring endless ribbing and taunts after a less than impressive scrumming performance against England at Twickenham in 2005, the Men of Gold’s tight five turned it around on Saturday by decimating the much-vaunted England front row.

There hasn’t been much sweeter moments in Wallabies’ forward history than in the 63rd minute when the English scrum simply imploded under the sheer power of the Men of Gold pack.

The tighthead put the Wallabies firmly on the road to a much celebrated 28-14 victory.

So with the Wallabies pack so impressive it’s no surprise that tighthead prop Al Baxter was Your Man of the Match against England at Twickenham.

‘The Fuse’ picked up 45% of the 1369 votes, we received followed by flyhalf Matt Giteau with 31.7% for his accurate goal kicking and superb all round game.

In third place was another member of the front row, hooker Stephen Moore, who picked up the official Man of the Match award after the game, with 10.1%.

Flanker Hugh ‘Madness’ McMeniman came in fourth in our poll with 7.7% and rounding out our top five was captain Stirling Mortlock, earning 5.5% with his usual barnstorming performance and a crucial long range penalty goal.

But can the Wallabies back up their magnificent victory at Twickenham by overcoming another 6 Nations heavyweight, France, in Paris at 7am this Sunday morning (AEDT).
