The Peter Hynes domination has been broken with Qantas Wallabies flyhalf Matt Giteau being named your Man of the Match for the Wallabies record breaking 40 – 10 victory over France in Brisbane.
Giteau, who polled 40.2% of the 2382 votes we received, had a superb game at Suncorp Stadium, playing a major role in setting up all four Wallaby tries and kicking eight from eight for a personal tally of 20 points.
His pivot and spin followed by his no look flick pass to put lock James Horwill away for his try will be seen on highlights tapes for years to come. Giteau breaks the sequence of two Man of the Match performances in the first two Tests of the year from winger Hynes.
In second place, with 26.4% of votes received, the front row strikes back with prop “Super” Al Baxter receiving much praise for his powerhouse all round game. One bullocking charge at the end had the French defenders literally bouncing off.
Next up came flanker Rocky Elsom (18.8%) and scrumhalf Luke Burgess (13.4%), who again put in big performances, with Adam Ashley-Cooper rounding out the top five.
Our new poll is now up and running – “Who will win the 2008 Tri-Nations ?” – so make sure to cast your vote.
