Emerging centre Tom Carter appeared set for a long-awaited Super 14 debut early in the 2007 season when he was selected to tour South Africa with the Waratahs. Unfortunately the strongly built 24 year-old succumbed to injury after narrowly missing out on an on-fi eld spot during the trip, which saw him miss the bulk of the season. He recovered in time to help the Sydney University club to a third straight Sydney Premiership and will push hard again for selection in 2008.
