One of the more engaging members of the front row club, Canadian-born MATT DUNNING added seven more caps to his career tally in 2008 as he edges towards becoming just the third Australian prop to play 50 Tests. After operating predominantly as a loosehead prop earlier in his career, Dunning has focused on the tighthead side in more recent seasons, sharing those duties – at both the Waratahs and in the Wallabies – with Al Baxter. Dunning first appeared for the Wallabies during the 2003 Rugby World Cup, attending his second world championship in 2007. Away from the field, Dunning is a single digit golfer, although that hobby is on hold for now after he ruptured his Achilles tendon during the final match of the Wallabies’ Spring Tour, against the Barbarians at Wembley.

Represented the Australian Schoolboys out of Northholm Grammar School. He would later become the first player from the school to represent the Wallabies.

-1999   Represented the Australian Under 21s team over two consecutive years.

Made his Super 12 debut for the Waratahs in the opening match of the season against the Chiefs in Sydney

After touring Japan with Australia A he made his Test debut in the Rugby World Cup pool match against Namibia and was later used as a replacement in the Final against England.

Played in 11 of the 12 Wallabies Tests, each time as a replacement at either loosehead or tighthead prop.

Started in every Super 14 match for the Waratahs on their way to the Final and started at tighthead prop in the opening two Tests of the season before switching to loosehead prop for Tests against France and England on the Spring Tour. He also notched his 50th Super 12 cap for the Waratahs.

Played in 13 of the Waratahs 14 matches on the way to a second consecutive semi finals appearance but was overlooked for the Wallabies domestic season and Tri Nations squad. He played as a replacement in two convincing Australia A victories over Fiji.

Played in nine of the Waratahs 13 Super 14 matches, the majority as a replacement after missing the first month of the season with a knee injury suffered during a pre season trial match.

Figured prominently as the Waratahs reached a second Investec Super 14 final before earning selection for the first Test of the year against Ireland. Injury saw him relinquish his starting spot for much of the campaign, although he did feature among the run on line-up in both of the Tests played in South Africa
